Here is my sweet daughter, Aspen, wishing everyone a Beautiful and Happy Easter on behalf of Little Red Wagon Photography! I know it's been a while between posts - not only have things been busy, but I've been busy (and very tired, and pretty sick - and super excited!) growing another baby in my belly! This will be baby #4 for our family and we feel extremely blessed. This time of year we celebrate Easter is such a wonderful time to pause and reflect on one of the greatest gifts we've been given - HOPE. For that, I am extremely grateful! Happy Easter, all!

Prepare is my word for this year.
This blog started as a place to share snippets from my client photography sessions, but I've always had a desire to grow it beyond just pretty images. I love working with families, and children. Perhaps it is my background working with families and children for years as a nanny, counselor, and therapist - but I just love being able to help, in little or big ways, weather it's providing a helpful resource, a fun idea, or simply a smile.
So...I am going to be brave and start sharing. As the new year approached, it became more and more clear that the word to prompt me to action and guide my goals this year would be prepare// to make (someone or something) ready for some activity, purpose, use, etc. // to make yourself ready for something you will be doing, something you expect to happen, etc. // to make or create (something) that is ready for use. source
This year, I feel like we need to be preparing for so many things, and it can be applied to so many areas - we are planning to be better prepared for emergencies and disasters, we have readjusted our family budget to accommodate short-term and long-term financial goals in order to be more secure and better prepared for the future. We are preparing our first child for Kindergarten next fall. We are preparing to have a family garden. We are also hoping, god-willing, for another precious baby to join our family. I had a big scare on New Year's day with a panic attack which very much punctuated a lot about the past year - the most difficult year I have ever had. While painful to admit, this past year, I let fear creep in during times of challenge...and where fear is, hope cannot reside. I had a small season of raw hopelessness that really turned me inward to do some soul searching. We will all have those moments, there is no question about that. We can't avoid the lessons we agreed to learn on our sojourn on earth. It was then that my mind kept drifting to this verse of scripture:
"...if ye are prepared, ye shall not fear."
(Doctrine and Covenants 28:30)
There is so much truth in that statement. I hope that as my family and I take small and big steps to become better prepared for both the challenges we will face and the blessings we will receive this year, that by sharing a bit, it might help someone else become better prepared - less fearful, and more full of faith, hope, charity, and love.

A Happy New Year!
It has been a wonderful holiday season, so much magic with little ones at home. This last year was a year of challenge, growth, change, and blessings for our family. I'm so excited for all the new adventures that await in this new year, and am excited that things on the home front have settled down. We are loving our new home in the suburbs of Austin, Texas and hope in the coming year, you'll join me in capturing and embracing the new journey and (of course) enjoying the ride!

A couple of weeks back, I had the pleasure of photographing and attending the wedding of a dear friend. The gorgeous greenery of Seattle's Washington Park Arboretum was the backdrop for their special day, and it was gorgeous! Having moved to Texas last year, it was a special treat to be back in the Pacific Northwest and enjoy the true gem that it is, especially on such a happy occasion. Gail and Imo, your day was lovely, and I wish you all the best, always!
